Sustainable Product Innovation
CGT’s research and development teams are focused on meeting our customers’ business and technical needs while reducing the environmental footprint of our products across their lifecycle – whether that means improving recyclability or incorporating innovative plant-based materials into out manufacture. We work closely with out customers to seek out natural materials to create innovative coated products that meet our customers’ standards for quality and comfort while raising the bar for environmental performance.
Vehreo
Our first sustainable product line, this material – used in automotive and other applications – incorporates plant-based components as well as post-consumer and post-industrial waste. It earned a customer innovation award for best new product in 2010 and was introduced.
Texterra
This phthalate-free automotive interior product, launched in 2021, is a polymeric-coated fabric that includes up to 20% renewable materials. Used in a range of applications including seating, door panels and dashboards, it combines sustainability with performance, design and haptics.
CGT Sustainability
For more than 150 years, sustainability has been central to CGT’s business. Since the 1920s, we have helped reduce waste through recycling initiatives and products with increased sustainable content.
Striving for Circularity
In addition to using waste from our own production process, we seek opportunities to repurpose materials from other industries, such as post-industrial trimmings from our customers and waste partners, post-consumer recycling woven fabrics, and oils made from soybean.
Community Engagement
We support the communities where we operate through volunteerism, charitable partnerships, educational initiatives, and local engagement programs.
