Three ways to level up on local business

It’s that time of year again! The Oscars might be over - but awards season is in full swing right here in our backyard!

An all-star lineup of businesses was recognized at the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards on March 21, 2019.

The annual gala pays tribute to the collective impact and accomplishments businesses bring to the local economy.

CGT proudly sponsored and attended the awards ceremony this year - an effort made in recognition of our 150th anniversary. This milestone could not be achieved without the dedication of our 1,200+ global employees over the years. At CGT, every employee is encouraged to lead, both within the company and in their community.

Here are three ways to level up on leadership in your community:

Hone in on your heritage.

As your business grows, it is important to never forget where you came from. In 1869, CGT planted its roots in the Galt area, back when we were known as Victoria Wheel Works. Since then, we’ve grown from making axe handles and wagon wheels to operating globally across four continents. Times may change, but at CGT it’s important that our commitment to our neighbours stays the same.

Pay it forward.

Giving back to your community just makes sense. Reinvesting in the community around your company helps it thrive! Plus, aligning your company with causes that echo your business values helps set an example for other businesses while promoting your brand. CGT has a longstanding tradition of partnering with local organizations every year because we care about our community and want to see it grow.

Bring people together.

Leaders in the community work to foster togetherness and encourage community involvement. Part of these efforts? Inspiring places and events where others can take action and celebrate their community.

CGT is glad to be creating space in our community for these activities. For example, this year we are excited to open CGT Fields - a family-friendly outdoor facility in partnership with the City of Cambridge - on June 1, 2019. More details to come as we get closer to the official date, so stay tuned!
