CGT History

Any description of our company as it exists today must be considered in the context of its history. The company has its roots in the Victoria Wheel Works in the 1860's, which provided wagon wheels for the thriving transportation trade of the time. As examples, the company was a major supplier of coated fabrics during the war years, including rain wear, and consumer products thereafter, including shower curtains, wall coverings and table cloths.
Our current products identify us as the leading supplier in North America of flexible polymer cover stocks, including vinyl, for a variety of served industries including the automotive interior industry, the swimming pool industry, and a number of other markets including book binding, roofing, and environmental containment. In the case of the automotive industry we serve a global marketplace with customers located all around the world. This places a premium on our ability to provide "world class" products and services to our customers. Our leadership position in this market is a testament to our accomplishment. The company is privately owned by the Chaplin family of Cambridge, Ontario. The long term controlling position by the Chaplin family has provided continuity of leadership since the early 1900's.
